New Structure Signals Company's Commitment To Livestock Sector SHAWNEE, Kansas-January 31, 2006

In a show of continuing commitment to grow its livestock business, Bayer Animal Health has restructured its food animal team and named Todd Firkins to lead marketing efforts in North America. The appointment is effective immediately.

As Livestock Category Manager, a new position, Firkins will be responsible for providing leadership in product management and business development across the entire food animal category. He will oversee marketing and support of Baytril 100®, Bayer Animal Health's antibiotic for the treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD), as well as the entire Insecticides product portfolio.

"This newly created position demonstrates Bayer Animal Health's increased emphasis and commitment to a successful future in the food animal category, said Jeff Gaidos, Vice President of Marketing. "Todd brings a wealth of industry knowledge, significant category expertise, and a clear vision for our future in this important segment. Todd will be a pivotal player in the ongoing success of this business."

Firkin's appointment is part of broader structural changes designed to fully support Bayer Animal Health's food animal franchise. The company also announced the creation of an Insecticides Brand Manager position to oversee growth and development of its Tempo® and Quickbayt® lines of farm hygiene products. Mitch Johnson will lead the company's efforts in this important and growing segment of the food animal business.

Dividing the food animal business into livestock and insecticide categories reaffirms our commitment to the business and increases our focus. We are fortunate to have two talented individuals to help lead our growth in these categories."

These organizational changes signal an important commitment for Bayer. About 25% of Bayer Animal Health's revenue comes from the food animal category. Todd brings the right combination of leadership skills, experience, and energy that we need to serve the livestock category and Mitch has the experience and knowledge to drive the insecticides segment. Firkins joined Bayer Animal Health as a Technical Sales Representative in 1995 and currently is a Regional Sales Manager, living in Canyon, Texas. He served as a Senior Technical Sales Representative and Technical Sales Specialist before assuming his current post in 2003. Firkins will relocate to the company's North American animal health headquarters in Shawnee, Kansas. A rancher and pilot, Mr. Firkins is active in several organizations, including the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, the Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Pilatus Owners' and Pilots' Association. Before joining Bayer Animal Health, Mr. Firkins held positions with Mallinckrodt, Bowman Micro-Dose/Dodge Livestock Equipment, and Texas Beef.  Firkins is a native Texan who earned his Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Texas A&M University.

Johnson joined Bayer Animal Health in 2002 as part of the livestock marketing team. Prior to joining Bayer, he held marketing positions with Intervet, Pfizer Animal Health, and Eli Lilly serving the U.S. and international livestock and poultry markets. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from the University of Nebraska and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Virginia's Darden business school.

DR. PETER WEINSTEIN, MBA, JOINS VETZ MAGAZINE AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Key Industry Leader Will Help Build the Industry’s First-ever Lifestyle Magazine for Veterinarians

Los Angeles, CA., July 2005 – Dr. Peter Weinstein, MBA, a leading advocate and leader in the veterinary industry, has joined VETZ Magazine as chief operating officer and will be responsible for helping to build the industry’s first-ever lifestyle magazine for veterinarians. Dr. Weinstein will focus on business development, business operations and strategic business alliances for the company.

VETZ Magazine launched its premier issue in May with a first-ever lifestyle magazine aimed at bringing solid answers to the veterinary profession in practice management, HR, legal and marketing. Additionally, Dr. Weinstein is on the Board of Directors of the Schnurmacher Foundations, a charitable trust.

In September 2000, Dr. Weinstein stepped away from clinical practice to work full time as a practice management consultant and to run Veterinary Practice Consultants Brokerage®, a veterinary specific job placement firm that assists veterinarians find new associates and new associates find jobs. In September 2003, Veterinary Pet Insurance hired Dr. Weinstein to oversee their Claims Department as the Medical Director.
